When I asked my son a few weeks into our changes if he felt any different he said ‘yes, my brain only tells me to do one thing now, not lots. It used to go bing, do this, bing, do that and I didn’t know what to do’
We still make tweaks here and there as he grows and his needs change but he is now calm and happy. He works on controlling his emotions (not always easy) I haven’t had a call from school for a long time now to come and collect him for a meltdown. He is learning to understand his mind and how it works and what he can do to support himself. We have come a long way in a short space of time and it is a forever evolving journey. Before I was worried about his future and how he would cope (or not ) with secondary school. The future is now bright and I can see him going in any direction he wants to. There is light at the end of the tunnel and I want to help as many families as possibly. You dont need to be diagnosed to join my group, anyone is welcome.
